Elliptical Exercise machines, also popularly known as elliptical trainers, first made a splash in the world of Fitness as a staple on the gym scene in the mid-nineties. Elliptical Exercise equipment was available in upscale sport and health clubs. Personal trainers, researchers, and surgeons have long hailed the health benefits associated with ellipticals. Elliptical trainers enjoy a substantial following among athletes. The non-impact feature of Elliptical Exercise machines is a top selling point to users with recent injuries, chronic knee problems, and the overweight. Older people are also frequent Elliptical consumers.

Users are allowed to work up a sweat and burn a similar number of calories similar to the process of jogging. One of the central goals of Elliptical exercise machines is building up the heart rate. Elliptical exercise machine are often used to stimulate walking and running.

At the beginning, when the elliptical machines were built, they were very basic. They did not have a lot of high tech stuff, while now days, elliptical machines have the computer built in with the sensor that gives you all the information about how many calories you burned etc, as well as some elliptical having the built in TV. As the elliptical machine gets more features the price increases as well.
