by Leon Deanbury

Your doctor just told you that you have high cholesterol and you need to change your lifestyle to bring it down. Your schedule is already packed with work, kids, extracurricular activities and more. How do you fit a new diet and an Exercise plan into your jam-packed day? It may seem daunting, but it's actually pretty easy to do. Most people are not too excited about the thought of an Exercise regime. However, the amount and duration required is actually quite small. A total of one and a half hours walking at a good pace, on a weekly basis, is all this is required. You can start with a slow walk and slowly build up to a moderate speed over time. If you break that down to three days a week at a half hour per day, you will be well on the road to improved circulation, and a cholesterol reduction. Once you've added those three quick workout sessions each week, you will start to feel yourself gradually feeling better. All it takes is a little walk here and there and your entire outlook improves. Exercise helps you do more than lower cholesterol - it acts as a natural mood elevator and stress reliever. Because cholesterol levels are also linked to stress levels, this is another way Exercise can help you lie a longer and happier life. Exercising can become addictive. Once they start to feel the benefits of your walks, most people make walking a regular routine. Family pets can be great companions for your strolls and once they figure out that they like walking, you can bet that they will participants and ready to go at a moments notice. Other family members may wish to join you as well, and your whole family can enjoy getting back in shape. At some point you will hit a plateau where you schedule doesn't seem to allow more time for Exercise. When it does, don't panic - you can add exercise throughout your day. Park farther away from the office and grocery store. This means you get a brief walk to and from the car. Take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever you can. If you talk on the phone at work and have the space, pace. Space your day out with chores that get you up out of your chair like filing and cleaning the house. Do these tasks vigorously. Each time you increase your movement throughout the day, its beneficial exercise, no matter how short the burst of movement may be. It has an overall good effect on your health.
